PHAT PHUNKTION SEEKS DRUMMER

Phat Phunktion is a nine-piece funk / r&b band based in Madison, WI. They have been together since 1996 and since then have released 3 CDs. Their third CD ?You and Me? has been picked up by Nardis / Liquid 8 records, and they now have distribution throughout the USA, Japan, and Europe.

PP has been one of Madison?s biggest drawing bands for the last 7 years, and they also have developed a following in the Midwest and beyond. They have shared the stage with many legendary performers including Chick Corea, Tower of Power, Rick James, Morris Day and the Time, Maceo Parker, WAR, Cameo, the Brothers Johnson, Average White Band, members of Parliament, and more.

Our keyboardist Tim Whalen currently lives in New York City, but will be moving back to Madison in May to continue with Phat Phunktion. Starting June 1st Phat Phunktion will become a full-time national touring band for the first time in it?s colorful history, and will begin work on a fourth CD.

Our drummer Sheldon Allen will not be able to continue with the band, therefore we are holding auditions for a permanent replacement.

Here are the requirements:

-Be comfortable in funk, hip-hop, jazz, rock,
and r&b styles (i.e.: Sonny Emery, David
Garibaldi, ?uestlove, Michael Bland etc)
- Be able to read music and pick up ideas
quickly
- Have a VERY DEEP POCKET
- Be available to rehearse 2 times a week
starting January 5th / 4 ?5 times a week a
month before we hit the road
- Must make a full-time commitment

This is not a weekend warrior type gig, nor is this a sub-type of gig. This will be a full-time touring band that will be playing 4 ? 6 shows a week for 4 ? 5 weeks at a time. Those details will be ironed out over the next few months.

I recieved MP3s from the music director about a week and half ago. I am still waiting for the charts. As of yet Tim and I were to chat breifly on the phone but we have'nt yet. I've been woodshedding the tunes that they sent to me and writing my own cheat sheets. I do not think that they have set audition dates yet. PT.
